What issue are you most concerned about?

Lewisham NUT recently carried out a survey to find out what teachers would rate as their "top concerns". Teachers were asked to vote for their five top concerns out of a list of twenty-five issues.

Having too many administrative tasks on top of teaching came out as the greatest concern from surveys returned from over 200 Lewisham teachers. But what would you have chosen?

The full list of results were as follows:

1. Too many ADMIN TASKS on top of teaching
2. Not enough TIME TO PREPARE and ASSESS
3. Too much EMPHASIS ON TESTING
4. Not being able to meet SPECIAL NEEDS
5. BULLYING MANAGEMENT and low morale
6. Not enough TIME for EXTRA RESPONSIBILITIES
7. Not enough SUPPORT with PUPIL BEHAVIOUR
8. Overall PAY too low to pay bills/debts
9. Too frequent CURRICULUM CHANGE
10. No/not enough PAY for RESPONSIBILITIES
11. Too many CHILDREN IN A CLASS
12. Having to produce too much PLANNING
13. No time to take a proper LUNCH BREAK
14. Too many MEETINGS in a week
15. Schools becoming ACADEMIES and TRUSTS
16. Poor buildings and SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
17. LACK OF CONSULTATION over school policies
18. Too many LESSON OBSERVATIONS
19. STAFF WHO AREN'T TEACHERS teaching classes
20. Losing my non-contact time to COVER
21. LACK OF TRAINING offered in school time
22. Worried about LOSING MY JOB
23. Being put under pressure over SICKNESS
24. Too hard to MOVE UP THE PAY SCALE
25. Too much done by COMPUTER & EMAIL
