Oppose victimisations of trade unionists
Lewisham NUT members signed letters at our General Meeting to support four different appeals against victimisation and attacks on trade unionists - they're all attached below.
As the letters about NUT reps say "If employers and Headteachers believe that they can dismiss school representatives without a firm response from the Union, then this could invite a more widespread attack on school representatives which, if successful, could cower members into accepting yet further attacks on both teachers and on comprehensive education as a whole".
Please send off copies yourself to support:
Adrian Swain - NUT rep dismissed in Tower Hamlets
Mac Andrassy - NUT rep suspended in Oldham
The other two letters are important international appeals - also important alongside condemnation of the Israeli state terror in Gaza. Please also write to support:
Yahya Al-Faifi, Saudi Trade Unionist threatened with deportation from the UK
Protest against the murder of Lasantha Wickrematunge, newspaper editor in Sri Lanka
