Ballot on October 6th

The following letter has been sent out to London Associations confirming news of the ballot:

Dear colleagues,

The NUT Executive agreed today the timetable for a ballot for discontinuous strike action on pay.

As expected the ballot starts on Monday October 6th, so we don’t have any time to lose in getting members ready for this.

There will be a briefing for Division Secretaries in Hamilton House on Tuesday 16th September and we would urge you to make sure your Division is represented.

The Union is preparing a tabloid newspaper to go into staffrooms, via Divisions, before the ballot.

Sample copies of this will be available at the briefing and we will told of the arrangements for distribution to associations.

As in the previous ballot the Union will ballot members in Academies, where we can establish that there is sufficient support for this. You will need to organise a meeting in an Academy in your area and undertake some form of vote amongst members.

The exception to this are ULT Academies, where we are in the middle of separate negotiations and won’t be able to ballot.
